CEREC

CEREC is a revolutionary way to restore damaged teeth in a single visit using a durable ceramic material that matches the natural color of other teeth in your mouth. CEREC is an acronym for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.

The ceramic material is compatible with tissue in your mouth and is high-grade, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant.  It allows us to be extremely precise and save more of the healthy part of your tooth.

After the damaged tooth has been prepared we use a special small camera to take a 3D image of that tooth directly in your mouth. Computer Aided Design technology (CAD/CAM) helps us design the restoration from the photo which is an optical impression. 

 Then CEREC creates an extremely precise restoration.  A high-speed diamond bur and a disk work simultaneously to mill the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material.  The final step is to bond the newly milled restoration to the tooth using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry.

CEREC may be used to replace old sliver amalgam fillings with ceramic inlays/onlays.  It is also used for crowns and veneers.
